u may know that oracle products ask u to switch the home at oracle home path to complete the installation successfuly but an illegal operation message occure(OS message) while I procced on the installation, it fails for some reason.
please tell me the way I should to complete the installation.

Yes, different homes are required for 8i, Forms 6i and Reports 6i.

Oracle install errors are common, and difficult. Try re-installing again from scratch, fresh install. Remove ORACLE key in the Windows registry, remove all oracle-related folders, reboot and re-start install.

Are u using Win2000 or Linux?
